back up & thanks

Thanks first of all to everyone that commented, emailed and called me yesterday! I even got some flowers and some cake, thanks Freundin. I must admit that I was a little nervous about putting this thing online yesterday, sure when you are thinking about these projects they remain in the abstract but then actually going out there and doing it is a different story. Again, huge thanks has to go out to all of you who took time to have a look at the site and write me. Amazingly, even one person from Berlin wrote- this city and “scene” is so fucked up that whenever someone goes out and actually does something it doesn’t even get recognized, which is why this city will always remain a provincial mudpitt where every one is trying so hard to be cool but in the meantime forget to actually go and do something. Anyway, rant over, thanks to that one person from around the way and to everyone else, it means a lot.

Ok, so back track. Friday night we went to the Berlin premier of the Nike SB film. All in all, and I am surprised this hasn’t been talked about yet, how amazing is the music score for the film?? Hello, did Nike have a few extra million bucks lying around??? Damn. I mean, great songs but fuck me if they didn’t have to pay some serious cash for that. Omar killed it, best part of the video, PROD, whatever, sure the kid can skate but he has no style / personality. It’s like watching a play station game. Gino’s part was insane ( short ). Nice enough, the Nike spiritroom put on a nice show / drinks afterwards, saw a few people but what got me, and I will have to do some digging on this , is that I think Eric and I were the only two people in the room wondering why the fuck Todd Bratrund was working with Nike? Whatever, each to their own-I enjoyed the work immensly but still? todd? nike?

I took off early on Friday night because I wanted a quiet weekend up by the North Sea before I launched this baby, so I hooked up with my dad and spent a weekend in this beauty drinking, playing Playstation and taking the dogs for a walk. I guess you have to be from North Germany to appreciate the beauty of a moor but there you go.

Then yesterday these dudes were in town, we did some sight seeing and shit talking, which was always fun. DQM, Livestock, Kendo and HUF

To end it all we went to an Adidas party last night, which to be honest, was so whack it’s not even funny. I think it always goes horribly wrong when a SPORTS brand tries to be a FASHION brand, invites some unknown, untalented designer/photgrapher/bum to do ”anything” for a lot of money, throws a party for a bunch of skinny coked up fashion victims that probably have never owned a sneaker, and celebrates it’s own ineptitude. What the hell Adidas? Stick to what you are good at and stop throwing money and shit that makes no sense.

Oh and to end this first entry on a positive note, here’s a little food for thought for you all.

I absolutely agree with what you write except in one point:I don’t think that Berlin is fucked up, but many people that live here are. Berlin has the same aura like a person who only wears black all the time (yeah, let’s talk feng shui!!!). It absorbs! That’s why it is important that there are many people here like you.we have to stand up! take a risk! and make a statement.

    Hey Steven!

Long time no hear - thanks again for your hospitality in Berlin, your knowledge of the city and knowledge in general was impressive! I empathise with your post on HB and often think the same thing myself! Worlds colliding it is! Anyway - good luck with the new project, nothing like something fresh to get the heart and brain juices flowing!

    Regards,

    Remi
