tees

Much of what we do here is based around tees. In a way, a tee shirt is the lowest common denominator within this sub culture and why not. it is, in regards to clothing, most likely the cheapest wearable item to produce and it is a great canvas. before tees, sneakers and what not became status symbols for wannabe’s that’s precisely what they were, canvas’ for artists to express themselves, a cotton based extension of the wall we used to tag, or the pub’s bathroom wall. the first tee shirt i bought with my own money was that anything even remotely to do with this sub culture was a stüssy tee in texas, around 1993. prior to that I spent all my money on band tee’s I got through my local record store or through a mailorder. Unfortunately, in retrospect, i did not keep any of the tee’s I bought from 1990-1999, but gave them away or threw them away, but whatever, products only became status symbols once this sub culture became a mass phenomena and people needed status symbols to assert themselves, or buy themselves into something they were not. I have been really lucky though and despite the impression I might give off, I am exceptionally grateful for every tee I have in the last 8 years gotten from friends and brands. Most of which I have kept, and it was over the weekend that I sorted through the hundreds of tee’s and organized them. In a weird sort of way I like keeping my favourite tees as a personal historical record-below is a selection I made this morning of tee’s that I’ve rocked to death and kept over these years. Thanks to everyone that has hooked me up, really, I am still as stoked on them as I was then, enjoy.

this is one of the burton artist 13 tee’s i worked on last year.
