More on Wine

So She One invaded from his blog to recommend a St. Emilion as a late-nite wind down, and it got me thinking that a few issues back I got the Wooster Collective folks to do this section called Evidence in Antenna, and one of the items they included was a bottle of Grgich Hills red (can’t recall the varietal/too lazy to look it up). I found a bottle while I was living in South Florida, at a really cool wine and cheese store in Delray Beach of all places, and it basically kicked ass. My other mini-wine anecdote for the night: I signed up for a wine club at Armida Winery during a trip to Sonoma with Sue a year and a half ago, and the hits just keep coming. I’m savoring a 2005 Zinfandel, and I’m listening to some weird New Order songs that sounds like they were jams played at Ian Curtis’s funeral. All’s good in the hood.

new order and zinfadel can be riotous for your mind.

I recommend a Grauburgunder and Kelly Joe Phelps for the ultimate relaxation.

Actually Steven they’re a quite nice combo. Grauburgunder and Kelly Joe Phelps? Does your wife know about such proclivities? Do you wear a fedora while sipping your white wine? As for Phelps, wow, strange reference. I used to hang w/ that dude in Portland back in the day. I’d go see him play jazz brunch at Cafe Lena. They made a mean tofu scramble as I recall. Crazy.

Yeah she is the responsible behind this, and indeed, a fedora is in full effect. KJP, the man is a god!

You guys both scare me with your intrepid knowledge of wine and KJP.

curveballs, as a european i dont touch new world wine as a matter of principle, so I am currently drinking a bottle of 1995 Pauillac, listening to Joel RL Phelps and watching Blade Runner with the sound off……must be friday night.

Sonoma? Armida?!? Thats my work… along with my neighborhood of sorts. I mean hey I’m only 23 I can’t own a winery yet due to finances, but I can at least design some Wastewater systems for their vineyards! Free wine = the best wine!

    bladerunner without sound is great.
I must admit I’ve been laying off the wine the past days and gone back towards the grey goose & tonic, lime and/or gentlemen’s jack on the rocks on ac/dc, black rebel motorcycle group or whatever they’re called and the doors.
maybe it’ll be a wine week next week.

I took SheOne’s advice and went old school (or rather, old world) last nite, drinking a nice Montepulciano with my tagliatelle at dinner. I did however start w/ a pinot gris from an old fave winery from my Oregon days, Eyrie. Very oaky. As for the whole Kelly Joe Phelps vs. Joel RL Phelps, it’s really which way your mood’s swinging. How do you people know about these semi-obscure PacNW musicians? Weird.
