art and stuff
I ran into my old colleague Nathan Nedorostek on the F train in Brooklyn this morning. He’s putting the final touches on a book called Radio Silence/A Selected Visual History of American Hardcore Music, which most of you will wanna see when it comes out in September. He and his co-author Anthony have been scouring the scene for years in search of anecdotes and photos that’ll kick in some memories for anybody that cared about such aural and visceral adventures back in the day. But that’s not all… After working on my magazines this thursday I checked out some Chelsea art openings, which definitely did not disappoint (I should add here that I will start doing links and photos on this blog soon–sorry!). At any rate for those who wanna google, I came across some intriguing stuff at the Jeff Bailey Gallery: www.baileygallery.com. If you’re in NY and make it down to 25th St in Chelsea, there were other gallery shows worth checking out, but I’m blanking right now. Oh and since I seem to be developing this running theme of listening to weird moody music, at current it’s some super late nite Mark Hollis. Who? Ex-lead singer of Talk Talk. Yes, the cheesy early MTV band that turned into an ambient-rock band that influenced a lot of late 90s/200os art rock, and which is probably making bank from the No Doubt cover of “It’s My Life.” So that’s about it. Sorry I’m not wearing some obscure tier one sneaker or somethin’ (though my shirt is A.P.C.).
