Five.
What makes a good bar?
There are two kinds of bars, one where I know I’ll find good drinking company, whatever form it comes in, and one where I know I won’t be found, where I can be with carefully chosen company and blur out the rest of the universe.
The Dive bar on the corner of Gerrard St. and Leicester Ct. in China Town was good when it was open. I visited some good ones on the West Coast trip, most memorable, only vaguely though, were the Five Points Cafe and Bar in Seattle…

…and Whiskey Theives in the Tenderloin in S.F. looked after me well when I was there. Though the walk back to my bed was a long and blurry one.

Basically, I’ve got simple demands - Make it a dive bar. The owner hates me. The barmaid loves me. Spit. Sawdust. Whisky. Gin. Tequila. Beer. Taxidermy. A juke box. Maybe a pool table. And I’m happy.
