Jamaica and Miami

Last week was spent traveling. We headed to Jamaica for a week in the sun with my wife’s family. On the way we made a stop in Miami for a few days to visit with my family and go to my sisters baby shower.

First things first… as soon as we landed in Miami I always head to the Russian Baths. If you have never been it is a must. My great grandfather used to go to the original location in New York - it’s a tradition in my family.

After a soak we head to Athens juice bar. I have been going here my entire life. This place is legit. Fresh squeezed coconut milk is the best with a splash of papaya.

Made a stop at MIA to see how my line is doing in the shop. They are the best skate shop on the beach. Does the trip now count as business and a write off? Hmmm…

Another staple in Miami is Guayaberas. They are old Cuban man dress shirts. If you know Miami then you know this is the place to go for them. The shirts are all hand made here. None of that mass produced crap you get at thrift stores. These are the real deal.

Me and my sister at her baby shower. I got a new shirt for the occasion.

From there we head to Jamaica.

My wife and I at the resort. Her family set us up in an all inclusive resort in Nigril. It’s not my way to travel. It’s hard to get the sense of any of the culture at those places. It will be our first and last all inclusive stays. Believe it.

The beach was really nice thou.

The view from our room.

The resort started to feel like a Caribbean jail, so we jumped in an cab and headed to town. I had to get some ital food when I was there and experience some of the culture.

It’s the bottom three photos that gave me a real sense of what it’s like to be there. The postcard views are nice too.
