Back to Reality
So after that flurry business yesterday we can all get back to reality and focus on the important things in life. I’ve been on the road for a little over two weeks now, and since my hotel in Barcelona didn’t have wireless-sorry they did, but it was broken-I had a slew of photos left over from Barcelona that I haven’t had a chance to post yet so here you go.
Family is Family.
Bobby and Craig at Trust Nobody
This is Fabio, he runs a straight edge vegan brand in Italy called Eblood. We’ve been friends for over 5 years and I admire his persistence and believe in what he does. Nice to see this sort of attitude still exists in our scene.
One of the nights in Barcelona we all got kind of rowdy, impromptu style in a small bar. The most important thing about a good bar is the staff, and these two really delivered, dealing with about 40 crazed streetwear kids letting loose from around the world.
London Family.
Hamburg L.A. connection.
If you want to know where the future of independent footwear is going, you just need to ask these two, Gareth from Pointer and Sung from Clae. Leaders in their own right.
yep. drunk again. me that is.
Different night same scenario, corporate dinner with Edwin, here you see Jacopo (standing), our man for Edwin over at Slam Jam and Chris, the Edwin designer and his girl posing for involuntary blog shot.
All right, so when I got home I had a slew of things waiting for me, but rather than sitting down and actually doing some work and all that I went out to my new local spot in Berlin, happy to find that they are now serving my favourite american beer, anchor steam out of san francisco. Matt Irving took me to a spot over a year ago in SF which served this and I’ve been hooked ever since.
onto the stuff that came through the door in the past weeks. my dad sent me this book, which I can only recommend!
A little while ago, actually over a year ago now in London, I held a talk at the London College of Fashion in regards to my book launch that week and one of the people in attendance was Ligaya Salazar, who is a curator at the V & A in London, one of my favorite museums in London. She told me about an exhibition she was working in the future about the relationship between Fashion & Sport, which sounded really interesting. The whole project turned out to be a lot bigger than initially thought and a book was produced for the show as well, focusing on said topic. It came out really well, Ligaya managed to track down some amazing people to comment on the subject for the book, Hiroki Nakamura from Visvim, Caol Uno, Chris Lee from Microzine, Jenny Scott from Checkin it and myself. I am very happy how this whole project turned out.
This is something I picked up a flea market in Paris for very little money. In a way I feel like I robbed the dude selling this, obviously he had no idea what this record in it’s original pressing is worth. Probably one of the best Blues records of all times, mint condition, original pressing and everything. SCORE!
Fred and Michael from Starcow sent gave this to me in Paris, beautifully shot independent skate zine from Paris.
Also picked this up in Paris, probably one of the most stylish French magazine’s, slightly homoerotic but damn it, these editors now what they are doing. This supplement really killed me and my imaginary bank balance.
Alongside Monocle, this is my favourite magazine in the world. Amazing research, writing and stories. It doesn’t really get better than this. support real journalism!
Toni Garcia of Trust Nobody is also branching out into other fields. He released the first Spanish version of Sneaker Freaker, which came out amazing!
Last but not least, my Evan Hecox, Ghost of Berlin print finally arrived from Arkitip. Thanks, super stoked on this.
