Q7 - Back in Time
“If you could go back in time, where & when would you go and why?”
Funny, as a student i took little interest in history and honestly found it very boring. now, it has become more of an interest and finally appreciate the importance of history to figure out ourselves and how we live now.
i am very fortunate to travel to Japan every year for work and to see friends and family. i take these opportunities to converse and learn from ppl of my parents’ and grandparents’ generation about my culture. there’s is a lot to be proud of in my culture but at the same time there’s many things not to be proud of.
much of what i learn and hear about in regards to what we should be proud of comes before the Meiji period (pre-modern times ~1850’s). before the Meiji Era Japan was a closed country and had their doors closed to the outside world. the country concentrate on itself and i think this was when much of the Japanese culture and traditions that we find very beautiful and valuable really took shape.
i would love to experience life in Japan then. maybe as a ninja. ha
