Years ago (or it might have been months) I was angered by the ability of Pharell to ask Giles Peterson to fill an ipod for him. I’d want the same, but settle for a his BBC radio show.
As for my own IPOD…
There are some great choices in the music industry. Giles, of course. Pete Rock, I think he would produce an amazing selection. For some reason, if limited to the years ‘86-’96, I think Tim Westwood would put together a great hip-hop playlist to fill an ipod.
However, at the end of the day, I’d like to toss an empty player to Nick Hornby and see where he takes it. He’s certainly written enough about mixtapes and the like. Plus, I just pulled a copy of “Songbook” from a box in my basement.

Oddly enough, I think Pharrell would have a pretty damn good selection..not to Gilles’ level of greatness, but the man is a self-proclaimed music nerd and is known to be an avid Steely Dan fan..which makes him golden in my book..ha
Dude, Gilles is who I look up to more than ANYONE in terms of musical selection and picking gems from almost any and every genre you can imagine.
I stay listening to Giant Step at least once a week. Speaking of blends, you might want to peep this past Saturday’s show’s playlist. It’s on the website (email me if you don’t have the site addy..not tryin to hijack and promo on your page..haha).
I’m no Gilles, but I think the cornucopia of sounds was pretty damn flavorful.
Big up!!

Couldn’t agree more on Giles. When people ask me what music I’m listening to, my answer is “Whatever GP puts on his turntables.” I highly recommend the podcast on his website, gilespeterson.com.
