Selector (weekly question)

Question - “If you could get any one person to load an entire ipod up for you, who would it be and why?”

I would have to go with Quincy Jones. He produced great stuff from Sinatra, Miles Davis and Michael Jackson. You know he has some cuts sitting around from Off The Wall that never made the album. Q is the man - straight up.

I would  also want Phil Spector to lace me. He produced the Beatles, Ramones and Lenard Cohen. He developed the Wall of Sound so you know he has some good stuff for my ipod.

An Ipod filled from Berry Gordy would be pretty amazing also. he was the producer behind Motown.  he signed such artists as  The Supremes, Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Gladys Knight and The Pips, The Commodores, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5! WOW!

Last but certainly not least would be my man Coxsone Dodd. He opened Studio One in Jamaica and had a hand in the development of early Ska, Reggae, Dub and Dancehall. The great music that came out of his studio is amazing! I would love an ipod full of artist like the Skatalites, the Wallers,  Prince Buster, Lee Scratch Perry, Horace Andy, Freddie McGregor, Dennis Brown and Jackie Mittoo.

I would say Nic Harcourt from “Morning Becomes Eclectic.”

I dig where you’re going with the above cats in terms of unreleased material and B-sides/test records that probably will never see the light of day, but THIS man would lace you with the ill goodness from all around the world and from every genre.

For example, dude put me up on Little Dragon from Sweden. This band is cool as hell. The lead singer did some stuff with Koop. Japanese girl..amazing voice..great production..peep that when you get a chance…

DJ Premier you know he has a sick collection of Hip Hop, Soul, and Jazz. Plus I’m sure he has some cuts from the vault that no one has peeped yet. Still nice choices there Benny!
