Trout Fishing In Canada - 008.5
The Grizzly Swamp adventure continues! Now that we caught some fish it was time to go for a nature walk and see what other beasts were lurking nearby in the wilderness with us:
We’ll start with some signs of life.
This is one of many moose prints we found right in the middle of the dirt road leading into camp:
Not too far away we found a pile of moose turds. My dad actually brings a bucket into the woods sometimes and collects these to use as fertilizer in his garden. He’s seriously got the most rocking garden on the block, don’t tell him I told you his secret:
Not far away we find more turds, I think these ones belong to an owl but I could be wrong:
Maybe I should have warned you that you were gonna be looking at photos of a bunch of shits in this post, huh? Oh well. Here’s some dried out coyote crap that’s been sitting around for awhile. You can tell it’s coyote because it’s stringy and it’s got hair in it from animals it eats. And those white things are bones, possibly from a furry little rabbit he ate:
A fresher coyote crap specimen for you, just for good measure:
As we got closer to the water we spotted this baby toad, camouflaged in the grass:
And, of course, there were Canadian geese:
Right next to the road we saw this brave ass deer:
And when we got back to camp Mr Chipmunk was waiting there for us. Sorry you can’t see him very well, it was tough getting a good photo of him because he was… well… being squirrelly:
All that wildlife sightin’ made us wanna kill somethin’!
Just kidding, we set up our own little shooting range as usual:
There’s more to this Grizzly Swamp adventure, next post I’ll wrap it up with a story concerning a rescue we made!
