Adventures at Auction: New Addition to Tattoo Collection
I spent Saturday in Portsmouth, New Hampshire patiently waiting to bid on a few great pieces of tattoo memorabilia. All items came out of the J. Welles Henderson collection, one of the more important Maritime collections around. Henderson wrote a beautiful book on maritime antiques called “Jack Tar,” which I highly recommend.
Anyway, the auction was at Northeast Auctions. Great house, and I’m lucky to have some good friends working there. Prices overall seemed very healthy. Odd to be in a situation where any notion of economic downturn seems to have been thrown out. I missed out on a great flash book due to not having deep enough pockets.
However, I did claim this, a nice little addition to the collection:
