I am currently using a Leica DLux.
A soon as I saw this camera I knew it would be my next upgrade.
I don’t collect stuff, so when i genuinely need something for work
it has to be a pleasure.

and from a slightly different angle.

The case, obviously is a great touch, along with the pop up flash.
The image quality is top notch.
I think it is important to buy product from a company with genuine heritage
in that particular sector, wether it is fashion, electrical or even cars.
Leica cameras began when Oskar Barnack developed the world’s first 35mm
camera, the Leica I.
The Leica I camera was presented to the public for the first time at the 1924
spring fair in Leipzig, Germany.

how beautiful is that? Its hard to put into perspective the styling aspects of
this camera , as it was the first of its kind, but as such I am guessing
it would have been a fairly high price/luxury item (as they still are today)
But the styling on this really reminds me of how they are still trying to
market luxury today, as with Vertu phone, watches and car interiors.

i had the same one , It’s really a panasonic in a flash case. Inside it’s the same as a camera that’s half it’s price.
I subsequently found this out..
Your right about the case though, lovely.

they Lumix does have the same leica lens with the 16:9 ratio,
however the camera housing is thin and quite ugly with silver colored plastic lense cap and slide buttons. the flip panel for the dv out cables is also a slightly mettalic silver that doesent match the body.
and it has a useless finger grip thing stuick on the front.
The Leica has a much larger screen, feels substancial to hold (it weighs about half as much again as the lumix) and even without the case is just a beautiful timeless object which i imagaine i will cherish for years to come.

For sure, the build quality is a million times better. looking forward to seeing the Leica lux version of the new Panasonic LX3, this has lots of nice add on lenses and a very nice high optic vf add on. My guess the insides and processor of this cam will be the next D-Lux.
