Camera(s)
Mr Black’s question of the week. “What camera do you use for this blog/other blogs and why?”
most of the pics used for posting on the blog are digital. but i still use film for personal use, a hobby, printing…..but now that i just recently bought a photo scanner, im posting way more film photos!
a bit of a camera geek, so here goes:
Canon 20D SLR (digital):
have been using this body for the last 3 years. it’s my first digital SLR. the screen is tiny but it gets the job done as long as i got my trusty 50mm 1.4 lens on there. although pictured here with a 28mm, the 50mm is on it 90% of the time.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7 (digital):
bought this in Tokyo about 5 years ago. has been my pocket digi since and has been pretty descent for the most part. fits in my pocket, sturdy metal body, large screen. not the best in low light but you can get nice effect.
Contax T3 (film):
copped this at B&H in NYC a few years back. one of my favorite cameras. pocket size point and shoot with a crystal clear Zeiss lens. i shoot with slide film and looks amazing. i pretty much take this guy whenever i leave town.
Ricoh GR1 (film):
the OG film version of the ever so popular rich boy scenester GR digital camera. a lucky win on Ebay a few years back. the lcd display doens’t work well anymore but still shoots amazing photos. a little gritty and grainy but i got this cuz i am a fan of Daido photos and that’s the way i like the photos to be.
Minox 35GT (film):
purchased at a mom & pops camera joint in Munich some years ago. i went and asked the gentleman that i wanted to buy a real German made camera. he pointed to the Minox and told me these were the only truly German made cameras. known as the “SPY” cam, it has a flip down lens cover and a silent shutter. it’s a compact range finder with everything analog. grimey and a bit of vignetting gives photos taken with the Minox a bit of character.
Polaroid SX-70 (instant film):
i had to get my hand on one of these because my parents used to have one when i was young. i got one in great shape with the leather carrying case and had shot a few packs of film. but my city has run out of film for this camera. will prolly have to stock up where ever i see some film in stock.
