Volbeat

One of my good friends just put me on to this Danish band. A nice and unique mixture of metal, blues and punk with an excellent singer.

This song features the singer of Napalm Death.

Inspiration

This makes me want to drop everything and go skateboarding for the rest of the day, and if it weren’t for all the snow still on the ground here, I probably would.

Sorry, I’ll have to link to the video. I’m having issues embedding Vimeo. Armand Brunelle’s Story.

Beer and Fire

with one comment

There’s been a lot of complaining about snow and cold temperatures the past few days. It’s always funny to me because it’s just a part of life where I’m from. We’re a different breed of human though, instead of shying away from the cold and snow, we find ways to enjoy it. Such was the case this past weekend when I helped host a stag for one of my good friends. We managed to spend most of our time outdoors in spite of the -30C temperatures and thigh deep snow. Sometimes all you need is a few beers and a fire.

Nowhere To Go

without comments

Now that thanksgiving is over in the US and Canada I assume everyone is in full christmas mode. Making lists of all the things they want and buying their loved ones everything else they want. We’re all guilty of it, especially in streetwear. Everyone’s too worried about blogging and copping the next hottest overpriced piece of shit that things that happen in the real world go completely unnoticed. And by real world I mean the real fucking world, not the entertainment world or fashion world. I mean the cities we live in, the homeless people, the starving people, the people that will have no christmas. I’m not over here trying to change the world, but asking that while you’re in the middle of all your holiday chaos, take a half hour to watch these videos documenting the homeless in Saskatoon. It doesn’t matter if you’re from LA, NY, Toronto or wherever, what matters is that you take some time to realize that everything we worry about on a day to day basis, means nothing when compared to the hardships that people are facing in our own streets.

Construction

without comments

Just a few shots of what I’ve been keeping myself busy with for the past couple months… construction. There’s something so satisfying about doing things on your own, something you can never experience when you simply pay people to do things for you. I know not everyone knows how or has the means to build part of their own home but I really had no choice. I’m renovating my basement to help make room for the baby I have coming in a couple weeks. I hope I get finished on time.

See the rest here.

Custom Vinyl

No, not that kind of vinyl, custom toys. This past weekend our local comic/toy store put on an art show featuring my brother’s custom Munny’s and t-shirts. A few pictures are below, click here to check out the whole gallery.

Streetwear PSA

Attention young streetwear brands!

You’re not a full menswear line. Wait until the time is right before you release “cut and sew” button down shirts and your own “custom” denim. Take the time to learn about what you’re trying to produce, learn from people who have been around. Copying another brand’s cut and fit doesn’t instantly make you a menswear designer. Do you seriously think the world needs your premature attempts at legitimacy? Newsflash, Levis has been around since 1853 and they do denim and shirts better than you ever will. I understand you’re trying to make your mark in sea of streetwear t-shirt brands, I know, I’m trying to do the same thing. But please, just wait, save your money. It will be worth it if you do.

The Mystery Of The Woods

Seems like all I’ve done this summer is camp. Sort of true. There isn’t much else to do in summer on the prairies.

More pics here.
