On You Fucking Lefty

I have always considered myself to be a lefty from my early teenage years onwards, being a skinhead just didn’t feel right. I wish I could tell you a story with some depth as to my early years but truthfully, there isn’t one. Fact is, back then, you chose, either skinhead or lefty. I went the other way, most likely because of some girl, a friend, the music, the parties, seriously, I really don’t remember.

That however didn’t stop me and my eager little mind to soak up every inch of old, current and new political thought and writing to be consumed immediately. Again, I don’t know what it really was, but I was, and to a certain degree still am, very excited about political discourse, theory and practice and making a positive change. Over the years I have fully immersed myself in countless branches within the political theoretical world, as well as their practical implications in the world. Through many mistakes and valuable lessons learned though I have never really felt comfortable for longer than a few weeks in any of the many branches of my world, and a weird world of peer pressure and conformity it can be.
I have never been a Communist, yet that’s the first „insult“ you usually get thrown at you, especially from my American brethren when getting into political discussions. Whilst I would never consider being called a Communist an insult but hey, I am not one. I don’t think state or government control of anything really is the right solution to anything, and those are my anarchistic tendencies at play.
I digress however, as my point is something else. In my recent readings I came across a statement from Marx ( ok, Americans, feel free to run away now ) that I vividly remember as my „eureka“ moment at university. In his work from 1844 “The Introduction to Contribution to the Critique of Hegel’s Philosophy of Right“ – in itself a great piece of work that I can only recommend to anyone genuinely interested he writes “…that man is the highest being for man, hence with the categorical imperative to overthrow all relations in which man is a debased, enslaved, forsaken, despicable being.“ – Granted, religion was the context but to me that is beautifully put into words what I had done up then and to this continue to do.
For as long as people are abused for power or/and profit shit ain’t right and it is your and my job to do something about it.
That’s the struggle. That’s the idea. I am still learning and writing about the different possible avenues this goal will or can require to get to but man, if that is your starting point you and I are going to get along just fine.
On the flip side, and just to be clear, you fucking fascist pigs don’t want that, despite what your propaganda machines spew out. Your version of political and economic rule are based on the abuse of others. Clear and Simple. To the point, as long as there is injustice there won’t be any justice. Let that sink in.
How we get there I am writing about. Hopefully, some day some of you can and will read about it. Until then, let’s talk. Let’s figure this out, because we can and we must.
